The Confusion of Malimawa

2025-09-12 1438

Even the most advanced political movement can go astray in a highly complex political environment. When I say that, our JVP comrades might think I am talking about them. Yes, this article is critical of the JVP. But the JVP is not exactly a very advanced political movement. The JVP once had its golden era. But that was before the party control taken over by a small clique of four.
So now, the only thing left for the JVP is to lose its way and fall into confusion. For a political party, there is no crime worse than losing its path after gaining power. It is more dangerous to go astray after taking power. When a movement loses its way before power, the greatest damage is to itself. That does not mean the country and people don’t also suffer.

In history, the JVP itself paid the biggest price for its mistakes. At the same time, the country and the people too had to pay a certain price. Losing the path after gaining power means the country also suffers while the movement suffers. But by then, some individuals might already be economically well-off. If you now look at the asset and liability declarations of the JVP leaders, you’ll see that every one of them has become a multimillionaire.

But not long ago, just a few years back, some of them were borrowing even their underwear from others. Many such humble comrades were once with the JVP. Yet when a political movement loses its aim, and only individuals win, it brings no benefit to the country or the people. Now we know this government has gone astray. That much is clear, and even Anura and Tilvin should understand it if they have any sense. The problem is that not only the government but also the opposition has gone astray.

In fact, the opposition has erred more than the government. That’s why those in government think it’s not their fault but only the opposition’s. The real issue is that neither the government nor the opposition knows how to correct their mistakes, adopt new strategies, and move forward. This government did not come to build socialism. None of us asked Anura to bring socialism either. Likewise, this government did not come to implement Ranil’s liberal agenda.

It came promising a balanced, moderate program between the two. They called it A Beautiful Country – A Beautiful Life. Today, not only has that program been abandoned, but Malimawa has hidden it altogether. Their policy statement has even been removed from their official website and dumped in the trash. Instead, they are now implementing a program completely opposed to it.

That is Ranil’s program. It was Ranil’s program that at least managed to lift the bankrupt country. These people can’t even carry it forward by making necessary changes. Under Anura’s leadership, Ranil’s program itself looks like a path to collapse. In truth, Malimawa has no proper understanding of the country, the economy, the people, geopolitics, or social and cultural realities.
That means they have no accurate assessment of our country. Now the people realize that they are trying to implement some hidden program that was never revealed to them. The common man may have ignored this at first, but now it is clear to them that this is an anti-democratic, semi-military journey. Their governance resembles a Bonapartist rule.

That means it has both welfare and repression. Now, step by step, welfare is being cut off and repression is rising. From the beginning itself, the Pelawatte group, upon taking power, entered into a wrong deal with the people and betrayed them. Through that, they lost about two-thirds of the forces that had gathered around them. Now Malimawa, especially the JVP, faces the problem that they cannot let go of power.

Because, the very first moment they lose power, the JVP’s political death will be recorded in history. At the same time, the prison doors will open for many people. In fact, the situation in Nepal should make them afraid. I will speak about that tomorrow. Based on this reality, the JVP cannot let go of power. Nor were they prepared to take power, nor are they prepared to leave power now. And nobody today is willing to share power with the JVP. Maybe someday in the future, power-sharing with Malimawa could happen.

But that’s not something for today or tomorrow. By now, all the models the JVP tried to use to sustain power have collapsed. Their project inside the state service has failed. The attempt to create a bureaucracy under Pelawatte by setting up committees in every ministry has collapsed. They failed capture the power of IUSF ( anthare). They cannot get close to the farmers either.

By now, even the Buddhist monks have realized the religious destruction that comes from their cultural destruction. This could lead to an open split within the Sangha community. Their “catch the thieves” project also ended under Ranil. Now they are running the underworld and anti-drug project. That too won’t last long. The truth is coming out. What we are now seeing is the result of the 323 containers they let slip through the port. That cannot be hidden. The responsibility falls on Anura. Compared to Deshabandu’s underworld and drug operations, this project is far more reckless. Within two more weeks, the whole

truth will be exposed. Serious human rights violations are part of this project. Numerous human rights cases will be filed. On that day, the government and the police will have to pay a huge price. As for the JVP propagandists who knowingly write lies for money, and the pocket journalists who carry these lies to the market, I don’t know whether they will learn a lesson from this.

Alright then, I’ll stop here.
Victory! Cheers,
